March 7th 2025 – MLB Spring Training Recaps

Spring Training is heating up, and March 7, 2025, was packed with action—from monster home runs to walk-off wins and everything in between. With Opening Day just weeks away, teams are fine-tuning their lineups, giving top prospects a chance to shine, and watching some of their biggest stars get into midseason form.

The Red Sox stole the show, unloading 20 runs on the Marlins in a game where Trevor Story mashed two homers. The Yankees dramatically walked it off against the Blue Jays, while Spencer Torkelson put on a power display with two bombs to lead the Tigers past the Orioles. Over in Washington, the Nationals staged a late-inning comeback to take down the Mets, and the Dodgers and Cardinals picked up solid wins. The Royals also easily handled the Angels, though rain ended things early.

Red Sox 20, Marlins 5
The Boston Red Sox dominated the Miami Marlins with a 20-5 victory. Trevor Story led the offensive onslaught, hitting two of Boston’s six home runs. The Red Sox scored in every inning, highlighted by a six-run third. Walker Buehler contributed on the mound, allowing one run over three innings. ​

The Detroit Tigers outslugged the Baltimore Orioles, winning 11-7. Spencer Torkelson shined with two home runs, while Gleyber Torres added another. Casey Mize delivered a strong pitching performance, racking up multiple strikeouts. ​

Yankees 8, Blue Jays 7
In a nail-biter, the New York Yankees edged the Toronto Blue Jays 8-7. Cole Gabrielson’s walk-off double in the ninth sealed the win. Austin Wells and Cody Bellinger each homered for the Yankees, while Nathan Lukes went deep for Toronto. ​

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-4. Michael Conforto hit his first home run of the spring, extending the Dodgers’ lead in the fifth inning. ​

Nationals 5, Mets 4
The Washington Nationals edged the New York Mets 5-4. A late-game rally in the ninth inning secured the victory for Washington. ​

Cardinals 6, Astros 4
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Houston Astros 6-4. A strong performance in the later innings helped St. Louis secure the win.

Guardians 12, Athletics 5
The Cleveland Guardians cruised to a 12-5 victory over the Oakland Athletics. Consistent scoring across multiple innings highlighted Cleveland’s offensive strength. ​

Royals 8, Angels 2
The Kansas City Royals defeated a split-squad Los Angeles Angels team 8-2 in a rain-shortened game. A four-run fourth inning propelled the Royals to victory. 

Pirates 3, Phillies 2
The Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2. A two-run fifth inning made the difference for Pittsburgh.

Twins 7, Braves 1
A Minnesota Twins split squad defeated the Atlanta Braves 7-1. The Twins’ offense was bolstered by a three-run fourth inning. 

Twins 9, Rays 9
Another Twins split squad played to a 9-9 tie with the Tampa Bay Rays. Both teams showcased their offensive capabilities, combining for 17 hits. ​
