​Here are the scores and highlights from the MLB Spring Training recaps of games on March 4, 2025:​

Grapefruit League:

  • New York Yankees 12, Philadelphia Phillies 3: The Yankees’ offense exploded, highlighted by Jasson Domínguez’s first home run of the spring and Spencer Jones going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a home run.
  • Boston Red Sox 12, Pittsburgh Pirates 4: The Red Sox showcased their power with Nate Eaton hitting a grand slam in the fifth inning, breaking the game open.
  • Tampa Bay Rays 4, Detroit Tigers 1: The Rays secured a 4-1 victory over the Tigers, showcasing strong performances both offensively and defensively. Matthew Etzel was a standout, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a two-run double, accounting for three of Tampa Bay’s runs. Eloy Jiménez contributed with a solo homer, adding to the Rays’ lead. The Rays’ pitching staff was effective, limiting the Tigers to five hits and one run.
  • Minnesota Twins 0, Atlanta Braves 0: In a rare Spring Training outcome, the Twins and Braves concluded their matchup in a scoreless tie. Pitching dominated the game, with both teams combining for just nine hits. For the Braves, starter Chris Sale delivered an impressive performance, pitching four hitless innings, striking out four, and walking one. Austin Riley was a bright spot offensively for Atlanta, recording two of the team’s five hits. ​
  • St. Louis Cardinals (split squad) 6, Washington Nationals 4: The Cardinals took an early 4-0 lead behind a two-run single from Lars Nootbaar. The Nationals responded in the seventh with a rally, tying the game at 4-4 thanks to a two-run double by Alex Call and a two-run single by Amed Rosario. In the ninth, Yordalin Pena sealed the win for St. Louis with a clutch two-run homer. Reliever Maxwell Rajcic earned the win with two scoreless innings, while Andry Lara took the loss for Washington.

Cactus League:

  • Chicago Cubs 16, San Diego Padres (split squad) 1: The Cubs’ offense erupted, with Matt Shaw recording his first hits and an RBI, and Pete Crow-Armstrong showcasing his agility and base-running skills. Starting pitcher Shōta Imanaga delivered a strong performance, striking out three over four innings.
  • Los Angeles Dodgers 4, Cincinnati Reds 2: Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki impressed in his debut, striking out five over three scoreless innings, with his fastball reaching up to 99.3 mph. Mookie Betts contributed offensively with his first spring home run.
    Colorado Rockies 9, Cincinnati Reds 5: The Rockies’ offense ignited in the second inning, scoring five runs to establish an early lead. Leadoff hitter Brenton Doyle was instrumental, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Ryan McMahon contributed with a two-run double, bolstering Colorado’s advantage. Starting pitcher Bradley Blalock delivered a solid performance, allowing one run over three innings and earning the win. ​
