Jack Flaherty delivered a strong performance for the Tigers, pitching four hitless innings with three strikeouts. Offensively, Jace Jung hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, and Thayron Liranzo added a two-run double in the seventh, securing the win for Detroit. ​

Baltimore Orioles 6, New York Yankees (Split Squad) 2

The Orioles capitalized on a strong start, scoring three runs in the first inning. Despite the Yankees’ efforts, they couldn’t overcome the early deficit, resulting in a 6-2 loss. ​

Pittsburgh Pirates 9, New York Yankees (Split Squad) 1

Paul Skenes, the 2024 NL Rookie of the Year, dominated the Yankees, pitching four innings with five strikeouts and allowing only one run—a solo homer by Trent Grisham. The Pirates’ offense surged in the third and fourth innings, leading to a decisive victory. ​

Milwaukee Brewers 9, Chicago Cubs 7

In a game influenced by strong winds, the Brewers jumped to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first inning. Despite a rally by the Cubs, including key hits from Ian Happ and Matt Shaw, they couldn’t overcome the deficit. Justin Steelestruggled on the mound for Chicago, allowing seven runs over his outing. ​

San Diego Padres 7, Chicago White Sox 5

Gavin Sheets powered the Padres with two home runs, including a walk-off in the ninth inning. The White Sox initially led 4-0, but the Padres rallied, with Sheets’ performance sealing the victory. ​
