With pitchers building up their workloads and position battles heating up, these games provided valuable insights as teams gear up for the regular season. Here’s a recap of all the action from the day’s matchups.

Atlanta Braves 13, Baltimore Orioles 5

The Braves’ offense exploded in the fifth inning, led by Michael Harris II, who crushed two home runs in the same inning, a rare feat in any game. The nine-run outburst put Atlanta in complete control, and Ian Anderson pitched well to secure the win. The Orioles got a two-run homer from Jordan Westburg, but their pitching struggled to contain Atlanta’s bats.

Washington Nationals 9, Houston Astros 3

MacKenzie Gore was the star of the game, tossing 5 1/3 shutout innings while striking out six batters. The Nationals’ offense backed him up with home runs from Luis García Jr. and Keibert Ruiz, helping Washington pull away early. For Houston, Yordan Alvarez provided a bright spot with a solo homer, but their pitching staff couldn’t slow down the Nationals’ attack.

New York Mets 2, St. Louis Cardinals 0

Paul Blackburn stole the show for the Mets, delivering four perfect innings, keeping the Cardinals off the bases entirely. The Mets’ bullpen followed suit, completing a combined shutout. Francisco Lindor provided the necessary run support, driving in a run with an RBI single in the fifth inning. St. Louis managed just two hits all game, struggling to generate any offense.

Detroit Tigers 5, Tampa Bay Rays 1

The Tigers’ offense was powered by Spencer Torkelson, who smashed a two-run homer in the fourth inning and finished the game with four RBIs. Riley Greene also had a productive day at the plate, reaching base three times. Jack Flaherty pitched four strong innings, allowing just one unearned run, while the Rays’ only offense came from a sacrifice fly by Brandon Lowe.

Texas Rangers 4, Cincinnati Reds 3

Joc Pederson made his presence felt early, launching a three-run homer in the first inning to give the Rangers an early lead. Andrew Heaney looked sharp in his start, striking out five batters over four innings. The Reds staged a late comeback with an eighth-inning homer from Spencer Steer, but they fell just short as Texas held on for the win.

San Francisco Giants 11, Cleveland Guardians 2

The Giants’ offense was firing on all cylinders, led by Tyler Fitzgerald, who had three hits, including a home run. The team racked up 14 hits in total, overwhelming the Guardians’ pitching staff. Blake Snell looked solid in his second start of the spring, tossing three scoreless innings. Cleveland’s lone offensive highlight was a two-run shot from José Ramírez, but it wasn’t nearly enough.

Arizona Diamondbacks 5, Oakland Athletics 2

With the game tied heading into the eighth inning, Juan Corniel delivered the clutch moment, ripping an RBI single to put Arizona ahead. The Diamondbacks’ bullpen shut things down from there, securing the win. Corbin Carroll also contributed with a stolen base and an RBI double. The A’s struggled to capitalize on scoring chances, going 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Kansas City Royals 7, Seattle Mariners 6

The Royals pulled off a thrilling ninth-inning comeback, scoring four runs to erase a 6-3 deficit. Bobby Witt Jr. came through with a two-run triple, and MJ Melendez followed with the go-ahead RBI single. Seattle’s offense was powered by Cal Raleigh, who homered and drove in three runs, but their bullpen faltered late.

Colorado Rockies 13, San Diego Padres 2

The Rockies’ bats were on fire, tallying 13 runs on 17 hits. Ezequiel Tovar led the charge with a homer and three RBIs, while Ryan McMahon added a pair of doubles. San Diego’s pitching was roughed up early, and their offense managed just five hits. Dylan Cease, in his first start for the Padres, lasted just two innings, giving up four runs.

Chicago White Sox 1, Los Angeles Angels 1 (Tie)

In a rare Spring Training tie, both teams struggled to generate offense. The White Sox scored their lone run in the second inning on an Andrew Vaughn RBI single, while the Angels answered in the sixth with a Brandon Drury sacrifice fly. Pitching was the dominant story, with Lucas Giolito throwing three scoreless innings for Chicago and Patrick Sandoval doing the same for Los Angeles.

Boston Red Sox 6, Minnesota Twins 5

The Red Sox edged out the Twins in a back-and-forth battle, with Triston Casas launching his first home run of the spring. Boston’s pitching had some rough spots, as Tanner Houck allowed five runs over 2.2 innings, but the offense bailed them out. Enmanuel Valdez provided the game-winning hit, a two-run double in the seventh inning. The Twins saw a strong performance from Carlos Correa, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
