Roman Anthony, one of Boston’s most exciting young outfielders, has quickly emerged as a top prospect thanks to his impressive power and plate discipline. Drafted in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft, Anthony has shown the ability to hit for both average and power while demonstrating a keen eye at the plate. His smooth left-handed swing and above-average speed make him a well-rounded player with significant upside. If he continues to develop, he could be a fixture in the Red Sox outfield and a middle-of-the-order bat in the near future.

Anthony split his 2024 season between Double-A Portland (84 games) and Triple-A Worcester (12 games). He achieved a slash line of .276/.369/.499, hitting 18 home runs and accumulating 54 RBIs. He also had 53 walks and 104 strikeouts.

While Campbell and Anthony are rising prospects, Marcelo Mayer has long been viewed as the Red Sox’s shortstop of the future. Selected fourth overall in the 2021 MLB Draft, Mayer has drawn comparisons to elite shortstops thanks to his smooth fielding, strong arm, and ability to hit for power. Injuries slowed his progress in 2023, but when healthy, he has shown why he’s been considered one of the top prospects in baseball. With continued development, Mayer has the potential to be an All-Star-caliber shortstop and a cornerstone of the Red Sox for years to come.

At Double-A Portland, Mayer played 77 games in 2024, posting a slash line of .307/.370/.480. He hit eight home runs and had 38 RBIs, along with 30 walks and 66 strikeouts. He was promoted to Triple-A Worcester but was sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a lumbar strain.
