MLB Spring Training Round Up – 3/1/2025

Here are the highlights from the MLB Spring Training games on Saturday, March 1, 2025:

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros

  • Aaron Judge made his Spring Training debut, delivering a two-run single to contribute to the Yankees’ 9-3 victory over the Astros.
  • DJ LeMahieu, also making his spring debut, experienced a setback by tweaking his left calf during the game, adding to his recent history of lower-body injuries. 

New York Mets vs. Tampa Bay Rays

  • Mets prospect Blade Tidwell showcased exceptional pitching by throwing an immaculate inning—nine pitches, nine strikes, three strikeouts—against a formidable Rays lineup. Over two perfect innings, Tidwell struck out five batters, impressing both the coaching staff and fans.

Chicago Cubs vs. Cleveland Guardians

  • The Cubs continued their strong Spring Training performance with a 7-4 win over the Guardians. Seiya Suzuki led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, while starting pitcher Colin Rea delivered three scoreless innings, allowing only one hit. 

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Baltimore Orioles

  • Reigning National League Rookie of the Year, Paul Skenes, impressed in his spring debut by striking out four over three innings. He allowed one run on four hits, contributing to the Pirates’ 5-2 victory over the Orioles.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants

  • Freddie Freeman hit his first home run of Spring Training, aiding the Dodgers in a 6-5 win over the Giants. Ha-Seong Kim also homered for the Dodgers, showcasing the team’s offensive depth.

Seattle Mariners vs. San Diego Padres

  • The Mariners edged out the Padres with a 2-1 victory, highlighted by strong pitching performances. Starter Bryan Woo was particularly effective, not allowing any baserunners and maintaining impressive velocity.

Atlanta Braves vs. Toronto Blue Jays

  • The Braves secured a 7-2 win over the Marlins, demonstrating solid performance on both offense and defense.
